SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES KENYA 40TH ANNIVERSARY & FUNDRAISING WITH NAIROBI CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL DAY - 20TH AUGUST 2011 – IMPALA CLUB, NAIROBI.
We are very happy to invite parents and children from Nairobi (and those living outside Nairobi!) to join us as we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of our work in Africa.
We are planning a number of exciting, family-friendly activities to mark this auspicious occasion. One of this activities is probably going to be the biggest, most colorful Children’s Carnival the City of Nairobi has ever hosted! The Carnival will include a children’s parade, magic shows, acrobatic performances, police band, food stalls, ice cream stands, face painting, a swimming pool, fun games, children’s merchandise for sale, SOS children’s work display, classic cars display, horse riding, merry go round, food and drink courts etc.
In addition to providing fun, awareness and memorable entertainment to the children of Nairobi, the carnival will be an opportunity for us to raise funds to continue our work of caring for Kenya’s orphaned and abandoned children.
Those attending will also be given more information about the first SOS Children’s Village which opened its doors in 1973 in Buruburu, Nairobi and about our expansion to Mombasa, Eldoret and Meru. A 5th SOS Children’s Village is currently under construction in Kisumu, a clear indication of the growing crisis of orphans in Kenya.
Since 1973, SOS Children’s Villages Kenya has cared for thousands of orphaned and abandoned children. Many of our past beneficiaries have made a successful transition into adulthood.
This Carnival has been organised in keeping with our commitment to provide “a loving home for every child" and we are targeting to raise Kenya shillings ten million to go towards our Family Strengthening Programmes that we run in the slums Kayole, Spring Valley and City Carton in Nairobi.
